I guess I’ll have to do a bit more reading about how to create my own kernel module based on this: Copyright Gentoo Foundation, Inc. After a few days I can confirm that it’s stable and that I had no issues with it.
Otherwise, I’ll post an update once I figure it out. Transfer speed seems fine. Bit adm1061 as most websites advertise the controller as FIS capable.
Mon Feb 04, 2: After some trial and error i managed to make it work. Windows also now sees the drive on the new port just needed a restart.
I’ve found a few previous posts on this, but none seemed to solve my problem and the messages seem a little conflicting – some people have got the media controller to work with a linux distrubution, some people seem to think the problem is the DVD drive not the media controller, not sure what to make of any of that: Post as a guest Name. More information on what this is doing would make this a much better answer. When you access disk1, you can’t access disk2 concurrently.

When I tried a boot just now with the media controller on, it looked like the same old story grub tries to start ubuntu but the system hangs indefinitely on a black screen. The mvsas or other libsas based driver or all open source linux sas drivers has no sata pmp at all. The PM is Sil based.
